About this privacy notice

As a supplier of ergonomic office accessories, ABL UK holds some personal data in relation to our customers and potential customers from the office furniture industry, such as furniture suppliers, facility managers and fit out companies, along with data that relates to suppliers and employees.

As ABL UK make decisions regarding the data we collect and how it is used, we are ‘data controllers’ and therefore need to inform you of the personal data we hold, any processing activities, and your rights regarding ABL’s use of your data.

This notice explains how ABL UK use any personal data they collect from you, as a customer or industry member, in compliance with data protection law. This notice also explains your rights regarding the data we collect.

What personal data do ABL UK hold?

ABL UK hold the minimal amount of data on our customers and members of the industry in order to manage your account and preferences, keep you up to date of relevant news and fulfil orders. This may include:

  • Your name and job title;
  • Contact details, such as your business address, telephone number and email;
  • Correspondence regarding your enquiries and orders;
  • Recordings of telephone conversations for training purposes;
  • Information on how you use our website (such as your geographical location).

ABL UK may also collect other information regarding your preferences (such as how to contact you or your preferred products and services) in order to provide you with relevant information and manage your account efficiently.

How do ABL UK obtain your personal data?

ABL UK collect most of our data from verbal or written enquiries. This may happen in a number of ways:

  • Direct enquiries received by our sales team, such as by phone or email
  • Web enquiries and quotation requests
  • Social media interactions
  • Networking events and trade shows

We may also receive your information because it has been provided to us by your company as the relevant contact. ABL will never hold any data that is not necessary for the reasons outlined above.

What is the legal basis for ABL using your data?

ABL UK only collect and hold data on our customers and potential customers from the office furniture industry and as such we have a shared legitimate interest. ABL UK also has a legitimate interest in providing you with excellent customer service. This may include:

Who do ABL UK share your data with and how is it protected?

ABL UK may share your personal data with a third party where this is necessary to provide you with our services, such as delivery details for couriers.

We also may use third party platforms for email campaigns that are relevant to you, and we use some cloud-based services to store our data. As part of this process, your data may leave the European Economic Area. All third parties used by ABL UK are not permitted to share your information or use it for any other purpose than to provide their services. ABL UK ensure that all third parties are compliant with data protection law and have adequate security measures in place.

ABL UK take data security very seriously and our policies and procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure best practice.

How long do ABL keep your data for?

If you are an existing customer:
ABL UK need to retain your personal data to ensure that we fulfil your orders and manage your account efficiently. For this reason, we will keep records of transactions for a minimum of 12 months since your last order. After the 12 month period we will hold your data as a potential customer.

If you are a potential customer:
ABL UK will retain your data in order to keep you informed of products, offers, and relevant business news for a maximum of 24 months, after which your records will be deleted if there has been no positive activity or interest.

How to manage your preferences with ABL UK

ABL UK only use your data to provide you with information and services that we believe are relevant to you. You can request to be removed from marketing or communications that are not required to fulfil your orders or manage your account at any time.

ABL UK provides the best service by ensuring that your personal details are accurate and up to date so that you receive the most recent and relevant information to you. Please remember to inform us if any of your details change (for example, if you move address). In addition to this, you are entitled under data protection law to have inaccurate and incomplete data corrected or removed. Your rights as a data subject with ABL UK

Right to access: You have a right to request access to your personal data held by ABL UK, to obtain confirmation that your data is being processed, and to obtain information on how your data is being processed.
Right to rectification: You have a right to ask for any inaccurate or incomplete personal data held by ABL to be corrected.
Right to erasure: You have the right to ask for your data to be erased, however in certain circumstances this may not be possible if your information is required to fulfil our contractual obligations (for example, if we have existing orders to be fulfilled).
Right to restrict processing: Under certain circumstances you have the right to restrict the processing of your information. This may include when you contest inaccurate information, if you consider ABL’s legitimate interests are overriding your own interests, or if you consider the processing to be unlawful.
Right to object: You have the right to object to certain types of processing of your data when it is based on legitimate interests, when it is used for direct marketing, or when it is processed for the purpose of statistical analysis.
Automated decision making: ABL UK do not make any automated decision based on your personal information. We may profile your data to target offers that are relevant to you, which you can opt out of.
